Court directed a probe into allegations of extortion by former Mumbai police chief

The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition authorities in Maharashtra and former State Home Minister Anil Deshmukh individually moved the Supreme Court on Tuesday, a day after the Bombay High Court ordered the CBI to probe allegations of corruption levelled by former Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh.
