The Delhi University on Thursday constituted a fact-finding committee to probe latest developments on the academic establishment following a power tussle.

The resolution was taken on the college’s pressing Executive Council (EC) assembly known as on Thursday, a day after DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi was suspended on the orders of President Ram Nath Kovind. An issue erupted final week when Tyagi eliminated PC Joshi as pro-VC on Thursday and appointed Geeta Bhatt, the director of the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board of the college, in his place.

Joshi had, in the meantime, notified the appointment of a brand new registrar, Vikas Gupta, whose interview had been accomplished and appointment cleared by the manager council on Wednesday. However, the identical day, Tyagi had permitted and notified the appointment of PC Jha as performing registrar and director of the South Campus.

The ministry then intervened within the power tussle between the vice chancellor and the pro-vice chancellor, saying appointments made by Tyagi weren’t “valid” as he’s on go away.

The power tussle intensified with Jha writing to the ministry citing himself as “acting registrar” and saying that every one selections taken by Tygai are in accordance with college norms.
