“Look at how the lives of PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal have changed after doing well at the Olympic Games. They are not only sporting icons in the country but they are also self-sufficient, independent women and it’s because of their achievements in sports.
“I want comparable success for our workforce and we’re working in the direction of it. We have that fireside and starvation to excel and we all know doing effectively on the Olympics will change our lives for the higher,” Rani added.
Encouraging youngsters to pursue hockey, Rani said that the sport has made members of her team financially independent at a very young age and they are in a better position to take care of their families’ needs.
“I feel ten years or 15 years in the past if somebody mentioned, we’d take up hockey as a profession they might both snigger or bluntly ask us how will that assist make a residing. But issues have modified drastically within the sport now.”
