‘Halwa’ ritual held, Budget app unveiled

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur and senior officers of the Finance Ministry on Saturday participated within the symbolic ‘Halwa Ceremony’ that marks the start of compilation of finances paperwork.

The ceremony used to mark the launch of the printing train for the Budget. This would be the first time since impartial India’s first Budget on November 26, 1947, that the paperwork is not going to be bodily printed.

The Finance Minister additionally launched the ‘Union Budget Mobile App’ for entry of Budget paperwork by Members of Parliament and most people.

The app facilitates entry to 14 Budget paperwork as prescribed by the Constitution, the Ministry stated in an announcement.
