HDFC Bank is the biggest issuer of bank cards and had 1.49 crore clients as of September 2020.

The nation’s largest personal sector lender HDFC Bank on Tuesday stated it’s taking steps to resolve glitches in its digital banking platform and restore services on precedence.

“Some customers are facing intermittent issues accessing our NetBanking/MobileBanking App. We are looking into it on priority for resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience and request you to try again after sometime. Thank you,” HDFC Bank stated in a tweet.

This will not be for the primary time that the purchasers of the bank have confronted service outage. In truth, the bank has been penalised by the Reserve bank of India (RBI) for 2 main outages up to now.

In December, the RBI briefly barred HDFC Bank from launching new digital banking initiatives and issuing new bank cards after taking a critical view of service outages on the lender during the last two years.

“RBI has issued an order dated December 2, 2020, to HDFC Bank Ltd with regard to sure incidents of outages within the web banking/ cell banking/ cost utilities of the bank over the previous two years, together with the current outages within the bank’s web banking and cost system on November 21, 2020, due to an influence failure within the major information centre,” HDFC Bank had stated in a regulatory submitting.

The bank has been penalised for 2 main outages, one in November 2018 and the opposite in December 2019.

Taking a stern view of the repeated outages, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das had stated in December the regulator had some issues about sure deficiencies and it was crucial that HDFC Bank strengthens its IT system earlier than increasing additional.

“… we cannot have thousands and lakhs of customers who are using digital banking to be in any kind of difficulty for hours together and especially when we are ourselves giving so much emphasis on digital banking. Public confidence in digital banking has to be maintained,” Das had stated.

HDFC Bank, the biggest lender by belongings within the personal sector, has been categorized as a systemically necessary entity by the RBI up to now. It can be the biggest issuer of bank cards and has a major share within the cost processing section.

The bank is the biggest issuer of bank cards and had 1.49 crore clients as of September 2020 whereas on the debit playing cards entrance, it had 3.38 crore clients.
