The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER Amendment) Bill, 2021 was tabled in the Lok Sabha to grant the status of nationwide significance to the six NIPERs in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Raebareli.
Education Times, USN Murty, director NIPER – Guwahati and director (officiating) NIPER Raebareli says INI status as soon as granted will permit institutes to have freedom in phrases of designing and implementing their very own syllabus and curriculum as per the trade wants.
Academic mobility and placement
According to Kiran Kalia, director, NIPER-Ahmedabad, the INI status as soon as accorded will speed up educational mobility for each lecturers and college students at global degree. “This will increase placement opportunities of our students. Highlighting the importance of the INI status, Shashi Bala Singh, director NIPER Hyderabad says that when the federal government will accord the status to all new six NIPERs to maintain it alongside with NIPER SAS Nagar, Mohali, will enhance the self-esteem of college students. “More extramural and government funding will be available for R&D activities. This will definitely provide them better job opportunities,” says Singh.
“The R&D activities conducted in these institutes will reduce the dependency on other countries in Pharmaceutical Sciences and will also promote ‘Make in India program’ and development of state-of-the-art Infrastructure required for Pharmacy R&D,” says NIPER Hyderabad director. These Institutes would have the scope to steer the nation’s Pharmacy sector like IITs main in Engineering and know-how sector, she provides.
“The wide range of courses, industry-academia collaborations, and skill development required for industry and other academic institutes will also see a boom after INI status to NIPERs. The R&D output is anticipated to increase and promote sprouting of more innovations and startups,” says Singh.
