Upma is a common breakfast in South Indian households and we usually make a variety of upma. The most common ones are Rava Upma and Semiya Upma which are a part of our breakfast menu at least once a week. Unlike other upma, this Oats Upma is rich in fibre and since we add vegetables to it, this upma becomes more nutritious.
If you are a working mother, bachelor or studying in a hostel, this healthy meal can be prepared in just 15 minutes. You can make the process even faster by using frozen vegetables. We usually make dalia with oats and I have posted Nombu Kanji Style Oats Recipe In Jayshree’s kitchen. But this is a soft upma and tastes good too.

Oats Upma Recipe
Healthy Indian Style Oats Upma Recipe- Easy Weight Loss Recipe

- 1 cup quick cooking oats

- 4 spoon Oil
- ½ spoon Mustard seeds
- 1 spoon urad dal

- 2 Karchi Groundnut
- ½ spoon Ginger finely chopped
- 2 chopped green chillies

- 1 Onion finely chopped
- 3 Karchi Carrot finely chopped
- 2 Karchi Capsicum

- 3 Karchi frozen peas
- ¼ spoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 spoon Asafoetida

- Some curry leaves
- ½ Lemon
- Some coriander leaves
- Salt as needed
- ¼ cup Water

- Add oats to a pan, I used quick cooking oats.

- Fry on medium flame for 2-3 minutes, taking care not to burn it.
- Take out and keep aside
- Put oil in a pan.

- Now add mustard seeds, urad dal and when the mustard seeds start to crackle, add peanuts and asafoetida
- Let it roast well, now add ginger and chopped green chillies to it
- Mix well and add the onions.

- Cook until transparent.
- Now add finely chopped carrots, capsicum and frozen peas to it.
- Add some salt and cook for 1-2 minutes.

- Since we have added finely chopped vegetables to it, it gets cooked very quickly.
- Add turmeric powder to it and mix it well.
- Now add dry roasted oats to it.

- Mix well and sprinkle water into it. Do not add all the water at once, else the upma will turn into porridge.
- Cover and cook for a minute.
- Open and sprinkle 1-2 tbsp water.

- Mix well, cover and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Oats Upma is now well cooked.
- Turn off the gas.

- Squeeze lemon juice and mix well
- Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Healthy and tasty Oats Upma is ready.
1 Always serve this upma scorching.
2 If you’re serving oats upma somewhat later, sprinkle 2-3 tbsp water and canopy it and cook dinner for a minute. Oats upma will turn into moist and tender.
3 Oats Upma goes effectively with coconut chutney or any pickle.

- Now add finely chopped carrots, capsicum and frozen peas to it.
- Add some salt and cook dinner for 1-2 minutes.

- Since now we have added finely chopped greens to it, it will get cooked in a short time.
- Add turmeric powder to it and blend it effectively.
- Now add dry roasted oats to it.

- Mix effectively and sprinkle water into it. Do not add all of the water directly, else the upma will flip into porridge.
- Cover and cook dinner for a minute.
- Open and sprinkle 1-2 tbsp water.
- Mix effectively, cowl and cook dinner for 1-2 minutes.

- Oats Upma is now effectively cooked.
- Turn off the gasoline.
- Squeeze lemon juice and blend effectively.

- Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Healthy and attractive Oats Upma is prepared.
