The authorities has lowered revenue estimates from the telecom sector whereas pegging anticipated receipts at ₹53,986 crore within the subsequent monetary yr, in keeping with the funds paperwork offered in Parliament on Monday.
The Finance Ministry within the Budget for 2020-21 had projected a revenue of ₹1.33 lakh crore from the telecom sector which was slashed steeply to ₹33,737 crore within the revised estimates offered within the Budget on February 1.
“Receipts under ‘Other Communication Services’ mainly relate to the license fees from telecom operators and receipts on account of spectrum usage charges. Department of Telecom collects recurring licence fees from various Telecom Service Providers licensed by it,” the doc mentioned.
The licence price is levied at 8% of the adjusted gross revenue (AGR) — which is taken into account as earnings from sale of telecom companies.
The reducing of revenue estimate comes at a time when the federal government has set the ball rolling for the spectrum public sale through which radiowaves valued at ₹3.92 lakh crore might be placed on the block.
The public sale in seven spectrum bands for cell companies is scheduled to begin from March 1.
